Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's expected for concerns to be raised about his position after a further heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in twelve matches, marking the team's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory obviously but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's expected that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the trust. But I've not talked to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell like this with results like these.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And until it is removed, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to the top, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
