Christantus Uche Fuels Comfortable Crystal Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their first-ever continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Without key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another three points in their upcoming fixture against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal direct entry to the knockout stages, especially after a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Moment

This match provided a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second consecutive match.

The Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season proved no match even for a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg injuries.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
