Cruise Cancelled Following Death of Elderly Lady Abandoned on Remote Island

An extensive extended voyage around Australia is being halted in the wake of the tragic passing of an older female passenger who was stranded by the vessel on a isolated coastal location.

The passenger had been walking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the party for a break. The ship left without her and returned several hours later after the personnel realised the passenger was missing.

An extensive hunt located her remains the following day.

Investigative bodies are examining the tragedy, together with police and the medical examiner.

Head of the shipping company said that travelers and staff on the Coral Adventurer were told that the remainder of the voyage had been called off due to the "tragic passing and prior technical problems".

Through an announcement, he further stated that passengers would be provided a total repayment, and said the operator was working "to arrange the homeward trips of the travelers via specially arranged planes".

Authorities also released an updated statement, and said they had "delivered a order to the Commander" preventing any additional guests from entering the liner.

The representative said that they would visit the liner in the Australian city upon its arrival.

The liner initially left the Australian port on October 24th, and was only 48 hours into the expedition at the time of the elderly woman's demise. The remote island was the opening port on the voyage.

Guests on the ship - who generally pay large sums of money to take part in the expedition - were transported there for a daily excursion with the option of trekking or snorkelling.

The offspring of the elderly passenger said that her loved ones was "surprised and saddened that the ship left the location after an organised excursion without my parent".

In her statement, she characterized her mother as an "active elderly person" who was a member of a bushwalking organization.

"Based on limited facts we have been informed, it seems that there was a lapse of attention and ordinary reasoning," she stated.

She added that she wished the inquiry would be able to pinpoint what "the operator should have done that might have preserved Mum's life".

"Based on information from the police that it was a exceptionally warm day, and she took sick on the mountain ascent," she explained.

"She was asked her to return, alone. Then the boat departed, seemingly without doing a headcount.

Company Response

In a statement, the Chief Executive verified that the company was "working closely with authorities to aid their inquiry".

He stated that the firm was "extremely apologetic that this has happened" and had provided its full support to the family.
