The network's Top New Show of 2025 Earns a Significant Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.

In October of last year, the late-night programming block welcomed back its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, not long after, the network unveiled a completely new animated series with a strikingly different vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be heartwarming and calm, evoking a animated take of a laid-back talk show. In an era often marked by dark humor, this show's sincerity found an audience and propelled it a surprise hit.

A Significant Investment

On December 18th, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two additional seasons. This offers showrunner Joe Cappa ample opportunity to expand upon the world of the Campbell family. The show follows three respectful teenage brothers whose primary trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa voicing for all four main characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the audience of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," stated Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for a little longer."

A President's Endorsement

In the same announcement laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny." He specifically highlighted the fans who discovered the show and advocated for its distinctly quirky appeal.

"All of you showed up for this new show, praised it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something unexpectedly cozy about following this charming family navigate their simple existence.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa expressed his goal to evolve comedy past its long-running cynical streak. He linked this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“There's this level of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” noted Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we must laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

Future Seasons

Now, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa may well catalyze that comedic shift. At a minimum, the renewal ensures audiences more opportunities to bask in the warm glow of the beloved Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The entire series is currently streaming on HBO Max.
