Vehicles in German Town Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Police reported they were notified by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Officers state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Police then located multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say preliminary tests show the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for information.

A senior political figure stated the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be resolved rapidly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
